Companion on the Journey
[Guest post by Samantha Hanni: Trying to conceive, infertility, miscarriages and pregnancy are difficult times and Samantha is right — it’s so important to have a female companion on the journey! God certainly placed someone like this in my life, and what an encouragement she was!] Luke 1:5-36; 39-45; 56 Elizabeth and Mary. Two pregnancies against all odds. A virgin birth? A pregnancy after menopause? Medically impossible. Highly unlikely. Imagine the looks the teenager and grandma-aged lady must have gotten from neighbors, even friends. The suspected immorality. The arched eyebrows and whispered comments behind palms. How trying and humiliating…to be pregnant is to be already vulnerable, but to be labeled as…

Blessed to Be Back!
I’m so happy and blessed to be able to come back to Devotional Diva and continue to help women share their stories. I think I have some great posts lined up, and I hope you’ll enjoy them. The Devotional Diva schedule will be only Tuesdays for the time being. I thought we should ease back into this! If you’d like to submit a post and “Become a Diva,” please follow this link! I’d like to introduce you to Devotional Diva’s new social media intern, Alice Carter! Actually, you might already know her because she guest posted last spring. She’s taking over the Devotional Diva social media pages and also will be posting some…

He's Here!
This is just a short post to let you know that my son, Oliver, was born! My due date was May 11th, but he arrived May 17th! It was definitely not the labor and delivery experience I had expected. I was induced, but the little guy was in too much stress to go forward with labor. So, I ended up with a C-Section. The thing is, as soon as I got to the hospital to be induced, they figured out Oliver was in distress. If I didn’t have that induction date, I wouldn’t have known! The doctor wanted to try to get him out as soon as we could, but the medication…

Summer/Baby Break
Devotional Diva is now on summer/baby break! Initially, I intended to keep working on Devotional Diva (scheduling posts, etc.) right up until I gave birth. I was very gung-ho. I’m not due for two more weeks, but I just need to take some time for myself now. I didn’t know how I would feel being so hugely pregnant since this is my first baby. I am tired. I am very tired, and very sore. I get a lot of contractions that can be very painful and sometimes even regular. But, they start and stop. It’s been hard to know if sometimes if we should head to the hospital or not!…

Faith, Hope, Love
“Faith, hope, love” is painted above my mantel. We actually didn’t put it there — the previous owners of our house did! Such a good reminder.

I Have Trust Issues with God
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 So, I’m just going to admit it: I have trust issues with God. For me, I feel it’s kind of a control thing; I don’t like having things “up in the air.” I’ve been reciting the above verse in my head quite often the past couple weeks, to remind myself to stop stressing and let “Jesus take the wheel.” But it’s hard. I mean, I know I worry too much (even though it’s something I have been working…

When Can't Becomes Can
[Guest post by Myána Chartese: We all know those times when accomplishing something seems like an insurmountable task. Here, through her son, Myána describes when can’t becomes can.] Being a mother is one of the most precious gifts you can receive from the Lord, and I’ve learned more about the nature of God and the love of God during motherhood, than I have from anything else that I’ve been graced to do throughout my journey in life. Most recently I was in the basement ironing clothes and my son came downstairs to join me, and there was a particular toy that he wanted me to take upstairs for him in the middle of…

Through Christ
I’ve been thinking about this verse quite a lot lately, and hope it can encourage you today too.

He is Risen, and So Are We!
[Guest post by Debbie Harris: I’m so happy to have more poetry on Devotional Diva today for you! Thanks, Debbie!] He is risen. And so are we. And so we rise and rise and rise and rise! Ahhh such a wondrous, victorious, exquisite, doctrinal gem that if dwelt upon as we go through out our days has us living in the majestic throne room of our God perpetually. He is dwelling in us, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And we are ever so humbly, so gratefully, dwelling in Him. And so we, as sons and daughters of the Heavenly King of Kings and Lord of Lords, gloriously rise through our triune God’s resurrection power. And so…

Stop and Worship
[Guest post by Alice Carter: You know the old saying, “stop and smell the roses.” But we also often forget to stop and worship the the One who created those beautiful roses! Thank you for this reminder, Alice!] Whilst on honeymoon, in the beautiful Lake District, my husband and I decided we needed a day in civilisation, so we headed over to Blackpool. In case you don’t know, Blackpool is a holiday resort in the North West of England; it is well known for the Blackpool tower, the Blackpool Illuminations and the theme park – Blackpool Pleasure Beach! Blackpool is a lot of fun, but I don’t think anyone could describe…
