    Finding Peace During Loss

Finding Peace During Loss [Editor’s Note: This is a guest post by Ivy Michelle. It is Maundy Thursday. I had Ivy’s beautiful post on grief and loss scheduled for today before I even realized this. When I did realize it, I thought that it was a perfect fit. When I go to Maundy Thursday services, they are always very solemn and moving and truly make me feel grieved.] It is popular belief that cloudy days make people sad and depressed. People tend to spend more time inside on cloudy, rainy days. While on sunny and bright days, people are more active and spend more time engaging in outdoor activities. It’s amazing…

Anxiety in a Christian Woman’s Life

Anxiety in a Christian Woman’s Life [Editor’s Note: This is a guest post by Melody Quinn. I really appreciated Melody’s outlook on anxiety in a Christian woman’s life and I hope you do, too. We have a few posts on Devotional Diva on this topic, because it is not uncommon and certainly nothing to be ashamed of! Be encouraged.] I am a Christian woman who has struggled with anxiety all of my life. It has only been in recent years that I have begun to explore my identity outside of this statement. In my search to understand my identity as the Lord created me, I began to look at how anxiety…

20 Ways to Make Every Day Better

20 Ways to Make Every Day Better By Joyce Meyer –A Diva Review & Excerpt– Disclaimer: FaithWords sent me a copy of Joyce Meyer’s new book, 20 Ways to Make Every Day Better for review. I was not compensated. You divas know I love Joyce Meyer. A lot of my favorites from her are more devotional-based, but I thought her new book was so practical and I loved it. I also thought this felt like a good post going into spring — I don’t know, spring makes me want to be happier! In fact, the subtitle of 20 Ways to Make Every Day Better is Simple, Practical Changes with Real Results.…

    Budapest, Hungary — Diva Travel

Last week, I shared all about part one of my birthday trip: Vienna. Today, it’s all about Budapest, Hungary! We did what we do in all of our travels since we have a tiny tot and that is to walk around as much as we can. O sits in his stroller or holds our hands (he likes to walk, actually) and we can soak up the city. We’ve found that this is the best way for us to see many places in Europe. In Budapest, I was able to see many places of worship which is a real treat for me. I’m going to do a Churches around the world post…

    The Certainty of Not Knowing

The Certainty of Not Knowing [Editor’s Note: This is a guest post by Rebecca Lynn Scalf. When Rebecca submitted this post, I told her my brain works in exactly the same way. If you struggle with doubt, this is for you!] I’ve been troubled lately by my cynicism when I read through the Bible. I read about Peter being rescued from prison by angels, and I think, “That’s a convenient cover story for a prison break.” I read about Samson’s mother, barren and hopeless.  An angel told her she would have a child.  I wonder if maybe she made up the whole thing. In my imagination it’s like a Hollywood plot line.  In…

Getting Through Rough Waters — Staci Frenes Q&A

[Editor’s Note: Hey divas! Spring Break is over! Today I’m sharing a Q&A I did with Staci Frenes, a musician and author! She just released her ninth album, Unpathed Waters, Undreamed Shores and is the author of the book Flourish. Thank you for sharing with us, Staci!] MW: Wow! Congrats on nine albums! How does this one compare to the first? SF: Thank you for inviting me to come and share on your fabulous blog! Well, my first album was right out of college. It was a hodge-podge of songs, style-wise, and all over the map. Pop, country, folk. You name it. Listening back now, there are a couple of gems I…

Dustin and Jennifer – Lovers Loving Others [Editor’s Note: This is a guest blog AND video blog by Jennifer Lee (the video is also by her new fiance, Dustin). Jennifer contacted me to show me her proposal video and it was so cute, I did die a little. Dustin did a really great job! Jennifer is sharing their beautiful courtship story below!]    Dustin and I went on our first date on September 24th, 2014. We had met in the mission field several months prior and we decided to take a step forward to get to know each other. He took me to a secluded beach in Malibu where we shared…

Growing Old with A Miraculous God

Growing Old with A Miraculous God [Editor’s Note: This is a guest post by Bev Vines-Haines. If you are a big “Shark Tank” fan like me, you might already know her! She appeared in season 4, episode 9 with her best friend Charlotte with Ice Chips Candy — but now that I have know Bev’s story, I’m amazed at how she’s created other successful businesses with God! I am so thrilled to have Bev sharing her wisdom on Devotional Diva with us today. Thank you, thank you Bev!] In Psalm 92:14 the Lord promises we will be green and bear fruit in old age.  My best friend Charlotte and I have each raised our…

    Samobor Carnival

Samobor Carnival The town of Samobor in Croatia is one of the best places in Croatia to celebrate carnival, so we went to Samobor Carnival to check it out this weekend! Every year, the town is taken over by Prince Fasnik and turned into the Free Republic of Fasnik for ten days of revelry. At the end, they charge Prince Fasnik for all the bad things that happened in the previous year and burn him (a puppet)! Then, lent begins. We had a great time. It was a really cool experience I know I’ll treasure forever! See Croatia Full of Life for more on Samobor and the ancient lore.  P.S. The…
